Procurement Manager
As the procurement manager you will be responsible for being a data subject matter expert on the Strategic Planning & Controls (SP&C) Team responsible for data analytics, supporting strategy development, cost and performance analysis, and focusing on continuous improvement with respect to sourcing activities for Logistics Procurement.
Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).
As the Procurement Manager you will be responsible for being a data subject matter expert on the Strategic Planning & Controls (SP&C) Team responsible for data analytics, supporting strategy development, cost and performance analysis, and focusing on continuous improvement with respect to sourcing activities for Logistics Procurement. The team’s scope is global and includes support of all domestic and international transportation modes, warehousing, packaging, and 3rd party logistics. The SP&C team scope also includes the development of processes and procedures for technology implementation (defining requirements, road mapping future state development, liaising with IT developers).
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Managing a team of purchasing professionals who will create, standardize, and monitor compliance for Logistics Procurement processes, and compliance to Purchasing Practices and Enterprise Procedures.
- Developing, mentoring, and training personnel capable of delivering the global strategy. Adhere to the approved Performance Management Plan. Identify performance gaps. Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse global organization and recognize employee excellence.
- Implementing successful initiatives fully satisfying customers’ expectations. Implement and execute processes and systems that mitigate Caterpillar risk and delivers the best overall solution for our internal customers. Lead teams to fully understand the requirements.
- Managing expectations for PSLD Procurement, to deliver benefits required to sustain a competitive advantage.
- The position is required to travel 20% of the time.
Requirements:
- Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; having the ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Knowledge of policies, regulations and processes of purchasing.
- Utilizing business processes and technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing, and providing access to data that helps the organization make better business decisions.
- Knowledge of logistics procurement management.
- The ability to use practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment and services.
- Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; being able to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Analyzing and improving the end-to-end procurement process.
- Knowledge of major responsibilities and tasks of Audit and Compliance (A&C) function.
- Managing the operation of A&C functions in various business environments.
- Knowledge of business intelligence.
Highly desirable are the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
- Previous experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Business Management.
- Knowledge of Logistics systems including, but not limited to Blue Yonder TM and Salesforce.
- Having demonstrated success in large, transformational systems and/or process implementations.
- Lean and/or 6 Sigma Black Belt Certification/Experience.
- Previous experience with the Transportation function.
