Fleet Manager

Caterpillar’s Job Site Solutions group, part of the Resource Industries Sales Services and Technology (RISST) division is currently seeking a Fleet Manager.

As a Fleet manager, you will be responsible for supporting and fulfilling specific contractual commitments in a profitable manner. These commitments include specific deliverables in equipment management, production optimization, safety, sustainability, and financial performance. You will work directly with customer and Cat Dealer executive management, plant management and equipment operators. The Fleet Manager has primary responsibility for managing the dealer partnership assuring strong relations and profitable dealer results. Contract portfolio will range from $30-$100MM with expected customer value generation in the $500K – $2MM annual range.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the customer engagements and providing matrix leadership for contract execution.
  • Achieving alignment of various parties within Caterpillar, dealer, and customer organizations.
  • Partnering with dealer personnel to direct the day-to-day activity related to contractual commitments at each site.
  • Successfully delivering on all areas of contractual commitments by utilizing a complete understanding of Caterpillar and dealer capability.
  • Utilizing deep subject matter expertise in equipment management, production optimization, safety, sustainability and financial structuring, provide a clear vision for success and drive execution to achieve commitments.
  • Providing and applying solutions to problems in a customer-working environment.
  • Working with Caterpillar Product Groups and other internal business units to ensure complete understanding of the technical and operational capabilities of our equipment, technologies, and services.
  • Creating innovative new value-added capabilities to improve site operations in a manner that allows Caterpillar and dealers to grow profitability and reduce risk.
  • The position is required to travel 50-75% of the time.

Role qualifications/requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of progressively responsible job-related experience OR 5+ years Direct Field Experience working with/for Caterpillar Dealers and/or Customers.
  • 3+ Years Direct Customer Sales/Product Support Experience.
  • Must be fluent in both English and French.

Highly desirable are the following:

  • Working knowledge of technology products, financial products, machines, product support, labor relations, safety and environment operations.
  • Relationship building skills and the ability to execute through a team of Caterpillar, Dealer, and Customer personnel.
  • Communication skills – both written and verbal – that range from operational and technical discussions to Dealer Principal and Executive presentations.
  • Experience in the management of equipment fleets or direct responsibility for maintenance & repair contract management.
  • Product knowledge, application experience with equipment and production technologies, and the ability to successfully manage contracts to profitability.
  • Experience in mining equipment or working with process partners.
